Ouch!
I haven't spoken to Fenwick, but all evidence suggests that yesterday was a rough one for the kid:
- He was obviously at work/out of town and so couldn't:
- watch March Madness
- watch the Brier
- particpate in BofA pre-game trash talk
- His March Madness bracket was a couple of overtimes and a couple of scrambly last second shots away from being in total shambles
- When he does get out of the capitalist commitments, Blogger locks up and he is unable to post anything -- until hours later when the Blogger gods thought it would be a funny trick to post four copies of his trash talking "Go Time" post -- several hours after the Oiler had already beat the Flames.
- His trash talking regarding Samsonov is looking more absurd by the day, and,
- Despite outplaying the Oilers for much of the game, the Flames are still not able to score more than two goals.
Comments:
Was it just me, or did Huselius look just as good as Samsonov out there last night?
Seriously though, did anyone else notice that the Oilers new powerplay unit of Smyth-Hemsky-Samsonov has one major flaw? Smyth plays centre on that unit and he didn't win a single face-off last night, he lost all 6 that he took.
Great 1st period, and great 3rd period and excellent overtime.
I sure hope the Flames don't think that 2 goals is enough to win the rest of their games this season.
One funny part of Matt's stinkbomb entry is that even the one backhandedly positive thing he said about the Oilers--viz., that Calgary "wouldn't score any weak ones"--was wrong.

Not according to NHL.com he didn't.
3W/3L in the offensive zone on the PP.
NHL.com got it wrong, they may count a face-off a win because the Oiler player forechecks to get the puck back, but I still count that a loss.
its not the first time NHL.com stats have been skewered.
