Flames Game Day
Flames @ Red Wings, 530PM MT, TSN
So let's see:
Detroit 2 (Cleary, Kronwall) Calgary 2 (Phaneuf, and Bourque off a Conko puckhandling mishap). Then Bootuzzi gets the winner in the Flames' first shootout of the season. Go Flames.
CODA: I had a great time at the meetup on Friday; it was nice to meet Kent, Leanne, Erin, and Doogie in person. I usually try to get to at least one game at the 'Dome per season, but Kent and Erin might have talked me out of it; apparently Bert looks that much worse live, as on the tube you only catch his somewhat passive play, and are spared the appalling spectacle of his (cough) efforts away from the puck
And of course it's always good to catch up with Sacamano. And thanks to Mrs. Matt for designated-driving us.
So let's see:
- Wings have been off since Saturday, while the Flames played last night and got into their Michigan hotel today at 4AM
- Wings are the defending Stanley Cup champs plus Marian Hossa and minus ~ nothing
- Wings are 18-4-4
- Flames have lost 7 straight at Joe Louis: both last season and all five the season before that. Last time they beat Detroit in Detroit, Tony Amonte scored the winner, Chuck Kobasew had two points, and Coach Sutter was pleased with the effort

Comments:
why does sacamano get to maintain an alias ??? :P
...and well done on the use of 'bootuzzi,' i'd thought it was now out of fashion...
:)
I'll third the Bertuzzi-in-person experience. It got so bad I couldn't help but yell at him at the top of my lungs, and I'm usually pretty passive at games. And that was the Colorado domination game.
It's horrible.
@WI: It's all part of his secret pro-Oilers agenda, to give their fans the benefit of anonymity in hostile territory. ;)
he handles the puck with all the grace and panache of an old guy trying to flick a dog turd off the sidewalk with his cane
Can we not talk about this, please?
