The House That Ruth Built

Fun fact: the last ever #42 got the last ever out at Yankee Stadium tonight. It was a beautiful moment.

Okay, I'm over it. Go Sox!

Comments:

So I guess the new Yankee Stadium is going to cost $1.3 BILLION. Holy mother of god! Better hope Edmonton city council doesn't get too involved with our arena. At the rate they inflate projects with delays, we'll be over the billion mark by the time they approve the Taj Rexall.

Good speech by Jeter. But the Yankees still suck.

That's almost as much as their payroll.

What did Jeter say? "Today I am the luckiest man on the face of the earth--because I get to bang models and they keep giving me Gold Gloves even though my fielding sucks"?

Gosh.
You mean that wasn't you scooping up dirt from the pitcher's mound at game's end, Andy?
I thought the Yankees handled the occasion nicely, actually.

I did, too. It was very nice. I loved listening to Berra and Ford tell stories. I thought it was great that the last guy to wear Jackie Robinson's number got the last out in the stadium. I even remarked that it was the first time Derek Jeter made me choke up for good reasons. But it's still the Yankees, I'm still a Sox fan, and I still think they are idiots for closing down and destroying that stadium. So I moved on.

Did you see SNL on Saturday, Andy? There was a skit with Martin Scorcese and Rosie Perez reminiscing about Yankee Stadium. Funny, funny stuff.
