Can we all just get along?

Calgarians and Edmontonians will put aside their hatred of each other to co-host World Juniors in 2012. Ahhh. Isn't that nice?

*cough. flames suck. bertuzzi. cough*

GOILERS.

Comments:

But where will the final be held?

Of course, we already know which city's venue is in desperate need of replacing. Hosting at the Saddledome is the only choice!

Yeah. We can't force WJC fans to experience the LITERALLY. CRUSH.

Speaking of, did I crush the font size in the comments with my post? How the heck did that happen? My html is fine.

And is Metrognome no longer Metrognome? I stop posting for four months and everything goes haywire...

Metrognome has been Kent W. for almost a month. Do keep up.

This news also pleases me greatly as a Hitmen season-ticket holder. Gold medal game, bitches*. Gold medal friggin' game.

* - Odds I'll have left the city by 2012 because I'll have graduated university by then? 50/50.

Oh, and screw you, Grabia. You just got "Why Can't We Be Friends?" in my head.

You just got "Why Can't We Be Friends?" in my head.

That's not my fault. Or Rodney King's.

The answer is easy: the gold medal game will be played in the Oilers new arena.

Don't you know, we are now all Corridoreans?

For those who haven't heard, that means those of us who live along the Edmonton-Red Deer-Calgary corridor.

It's all very Obama in Alberta now, all of us united by the same spirit, all of us working together in the hopes of somehow stopping a new wealth grab by the federal Liberals and Ontario/Quebec.

yeah, I ditched the silly handle. I kept the silly jersey pic, however.

Am I the only one who finds the World Juniors (or as Eurosport calls it "The World U20 Ice Hockey Championship") the most overrated sporting event in the world? If only one nation on the planet acknowledges it, how can it be taken seriously?

Yeah....it's Hurling...completely useless;o)

Russia cares.

Pretty much it's like the World Series of Baseball or the World Series of Soccer for MLB and MLS.

Very silly since the MLB is pretty much all US and one Canuck city, and the MLS probably hasn't heard of something called the World Cup?

How long does it take to build a rink? Is it unreasonable to think the new rink wouldn't be ready by then if the rink committee gets their poop in a group? If so, Saddledome can have the 3rd place game ;)

It has already been decided. Edmonton gets all of Canada's pool games while the larger capacity (although anyone who has been there know the nosebleeds blow for sight) saddledome gets the Gold Medal Game.

GOILERS!!!

I feel embarrassed that our ragged little joke of an arena will be hosting an event of this magnitude. We're supposed to be a WORLD-CLASS CITY, dammit!

Is there no way that we can get some sort of downtown arena to avoid being an embarrassment to all the hockey world? I know that the BoA faithful will be with me on this!

Global news asked the question tonight. Word is that in order to have the final at the "new" arena, they'd have to start digging tomorrow afternoon.

Too bad. I would have paid big bucks to see Andy grappling with the ethical dilemma. $15 tickets to see the world junior finals at the new Rexall place, downtown.

So look for Lyle Best to be hanging around the downtown postal warehouse with a shovel.

Totally non-hockey related: It's BoA day, guys, where's the love for the CFL? :)

The only person here with much love for the CFL is Sacamano, and he's not around much.
