Handicapping

These are standings with the first 20 games excluded (and also Games 81/82). For explanations & logic, see last year and the year before.

I can't defend it as especially illustrative, or as providing a terribly unique insight, but what it does do, at the worst I think, is exclude some irrelevant data (where "relevant" means "useful in predicting how good Team X will be in the playoffs"). The best argument supporting this is the relative merits of the Senators and Sabres the two seasons before this one.

Related: Go Wild, Boo Avs.

Comments:

As another commenter mentioned on a previous post I'd love to see the chart you did last year on playoff teams records and goal differential against each other.

Actually, I would like to see a shortened version - please, please, please...

Instead of the final 3/4 of the season, something such as the final 40 games - or perchance the final 20 games - that is when the teams have solidified their rosters a bit more...

TY in advance...

Yeah, that points chart for playoff teams in the same conference was great last year.
Love the stats!

I was hoping for more gloating about the Canucks :(

The City of Vancouver is full of sad losers!

There.

Calgary Flames, meet your first round opponents, the San Jose Sharks.

The City of Vancouver is full of sad losers!

That's not gloating, that's just reporting.

The city of Vancouver is experiencing what the shitty of Edmonton feels like every year. It sucks, and actually also explains how there could be so many hurtin, hatin fools who reside in the dump known as Edbumton.
Vancouvers loss sucked, but Vancouver has a great up and comin team, while Edmonton is bankin on a couple rookies and some waiver pickups to guide them in next year. Edmonton will be garbage as always, and the hatred will just grow towards the jewel of the west...

Boo, Wild, Boo, Avs.

Jewel of the West?????
I have heard of the:
Paris of the Prairies(Saskatoon)
City of Champions(Edmonton)
Gateway to the Yukon(Whitehorse)
Heart of the New West(Calgary)
Gay Friendly Vancouver(Vancouver)
Fruitful in Unity(Kelowna)
Jewel in the West(Port of Vancouver) it says the port is the largest mover of Fertilizer in the world. They move 20 billion tonnes of BS a year. Makes sense to me.

Still do not know what this "Jewel of the West" is.

Does Reggie Jr have a cousin in Vancouver or something? This is some seriously funny shit.

It's his cousin, but also his dad. Inbreeding, FTW!
