You know what I'm going to get you next Christmas, Mom?

I noted in the game thread last night that Gene Principe dropped a Scorcoff reference during Sportsnet's coverage of the Oilers/Wings tilt. Turns out, he didn't just do it on tv. He also wrote about it. Something got lost in translation, however. I'd just like to point Mr. Principe, or whoever he heard the term from, to the BoA glossary for proper spelling and the source of said nickname.

Comments:

Covered in Oil LLC demands royalties!

Actually, although you gave us credit for coining Scorcoff, I swear I had read it first in a comment thread many months before our post. It's someone else's baby, but we promise to love it like our own.

Oops, see you have it attributed to Gary B. in the glossary. Carry on.

One of the comments in the linked post refers to Horcoff as "the new heart and soul". I hope you guys haven't abandoned Pisani so quickly.

Or perhaps the Oilers team is some kind of genetic/theological freak with TWO hearts and TWO souls.

They used to have 3 of each, apparently. Unfortunately, Lowe had a certain heart and soul guy excised from the Oilers Franchise last February (don't worry - it was purely a "hockey decision").

if you ask the media every player that ever left the oilers was the "heart and soul" guy. they don't seem to think that of ex-flames however. but everyone knows that once you move to calgary, you are forced to hand over your heart, soul and half of your brain. it's the only way you find it tolerable.

not sure if i said it first, but i know i said it REALLY LOUDLY!

Well, of course, not. In Calgary, we can describe our players using phrases like "good at hockey".

That was the first time I'd heard it. Man, I hope you thought of it first, Gary B. What if if was created on the HF boards or something? Noooooooooo!!!!

Really? Would you like to go over the data, moving from 1980 until now?

I also heard the name 'Scorcoff' dropped last night by that funny looking blonde chick during the Sportsnedmonton highlights package.

It took about ten minutes to show all of the Flames' Highlights from last night's game.

Go Iggy. Go Flames.

Probably five of which was just Tortorella stewing. What an insane hockey game.

well, it's just nice to be contributing in a small way to the groundswell that is the Oilogosphere.

speaking of fun with words, back a week or two ago, when #77 was looking a little on the shaky side, i totally wanted to post a comment along the lines of:

"What's eating Gilbert, Grab(ia)?"
