A Thanksgiving Ditty
But I can't watch it's on Pay Per View
On Saturday night, no Ron or Don
Instead I'll watch the Backs move on
Ninety-nine, is Wayne Gretzky
It's also the years since a victory
For the Chicago Cubs, in the World Series
They've got more problems than my boy Jay-Z
Thanksgiving is my favorite, time of year
A time to eat my face off, and down a couple beer
The leaves are red and golden, students still don't have a care
And Pedro throws old Zimmer, flying through the air
Thanksgiving is my favorite time of year
Tonight's the night, to go two and oh
With Samwise feeding Cogliano
Penner punches, a friend goes down
I don't care Zoolander is a clown
Will Hemmer shoot, will Horcoff score
I pray the Oil will win this autumn war
And then tomorrow, when the Red Sox sweep
And the A-Rod chokes in a Yanks defeat
A time to eat my face off, and down a couple beer
The leaves still red and golden, students still without a care
And Pedro throwing old man Zimmer, flying through the air
Clemens finally calls it, and then just disappears
Oh Thanksgiving,
My favorite time of year

Poor Cubbies. :(
At least the midges aren't against them. Did you know that the common name of the Yankee-hating insects is "Canadian soldiers?"
I didn't put it together before, but Garon and Souray were teammates in Montreal for a few years right? Hope that's a good thing.
I guess that means Garon should know that when Souray stands up at the blueline he should get ready for a spectacular breakaway against?
Just kidding...but WTF is up with this PPV shit, *sigh.
Not only was Garon teammates with Souray in Montreal, but with Stoll and a couple of others in Hamilton, back when it was Edmonton's team and Montreal was doing the sharing.
*@#$@ the freaking Leafs & Sens have their games all over CBC but the damn EIG has the Oilers game on PPV...this is just brutal. ='(
Andy - your man got one - is it too early to talk about an extension? ;)
Great ovation for Gator - saw the highlights - let's hope Smyth gets the same.
Sanderson? Really? YES!
OILERS!!!!!
I hope to read a nice breakdown tomorrow, Pat. Or now, if you want. How was the game? I was out having Thanksgiving dinner.
Is it just me or did it look like Sanderson hit it two feet from the line? Shouldn't you just leave it for Brodziak at that point?

At that stage, it's more reflex and less "hrm, should probably let the kid have it".
I saw the highlight, and as soon as he scored he looked over at Brodziak and apologized. It's the smart play. He doesn't know who is behind him. Last thing he needs is a screw up at that point. The puck was limping in. Just put it in and be sure about it.
youre only missing the flyers running circles around teh coil.
Whoops, guess that didn't pan out. Hope you tuned in later to see Calgary giving out odd-man rushes like there was some kind of Thanksgiving inventory clearance on 'em.
I've always thought Sanderson was a sweet pick-up, when other members of the oilogosphere were wringing their hands. I think he'll have a solid season. 40-50 points.
enjoy the wins while they last... which wont be for long.
Fever is like the Washington Generals of hockey trolls.
No wait, he's Ziggy.
Tough to catch a break, li'l buddy.
Amazing, fever. Watching the first two games of the season I was staring to feel that the Oilers looked not too bad, but a table of numbers that you apparently made up has convinced me otherwise. Bravo. Your numerical fantasies do indeed speak for themseves, though they don't say what you think they do.
I am one of those who are happy with Sanderson here and I'm glad he had a great night. I agree with Andy Grabia there re: EN goal, last he needed was to screw up at that point.
Thanksgiving...
I'm thankful:
- for the riotous colors of fall
- for relatively good health of my family
- that the hockey season started
- that Hemsky is ours
- that Lupul is given another chance... elsewhere
- for the good start to the Oiler season
- that the league is clamping down on headshots
Peace
