Snapshot
Also, this is mainly for me, so I can stop looking it up elsewhere -- Games Remaining:
Very unlikely: the Flames finishing anywhere but 8th; the Preds/Wings finishing anything but 1st & 4th.
Wildcard: how will the Avalanche perform now that their hopes have dimmed? And if they're eliminated (mathematically or effectively) by Saturday night, how good will they be in those final 4 games?
- NSH (5): vDET, vDAL, vCHI, vSTL, @COL
- DET (6): @NSH, vDAL, @CBJ, vCBJ, @CHI, vCHI
- ANA (6): @CHI, @CBJ, @STL, vSJS, @DAL, @CBJ
- VAN (6): @LAK, vCGY, vLAK, vCOL, @SJS, @PHX
- DAL (6): @DET, @NSH, vSTL, @CBJ, vANA, vCHI
- SJS (5): vPHX, vLAK, @ANA, vCGY, vVAN
- MIN (5): vCGY, @COL, vEDM, vEDM, vSTL
- CGY (6): @MIN, @VAN, vCOL, @SJS, vEDM, @COL
- COL (6): @PHX, vMIN, @CGY, @VAN, vNSH, vCGY

Comments:
Here I see a decent chance for the Sharks or Stars to overtake Anaheim for the Pacific title, and I see an obvious opportunity for the Canucks to secure the #2 seed if they stay hot -- or to drop the NW title to the Wild if they do not.
Yeah, the threat of being caught is getting more and more real every day.
Of note, since the Ducks kick so much ass at losing in OT/SO, if any of the chasing teams ties the Ducks by the end of the season, then they effectively pass the Ducks in the standings.
Those scenarios range from slightly tragic (VAN or MIN would knock us down to 3rd seed) to even more tragic (DAL or SJS would let us start on the road).
Dang, if only there were some way that Anaheim could consistently beat bad teams (CHI/CBJ/STL), I'd sleep more at nights.
Speaking as an Oilers fan, I have to start cheering for the Ducks at this point. We don't get that 2008 first-rounder unless you make the damn finals, and bereft of any other reason to care about the playoffs other than wanting to see the Canucks and Flames lose (and bereft of any other players who make that stupid trade look half-way decent), we might as well keep the draft pick push alive.
quack Quack Quack. Quack! QUACK!! QUACK QUACK QUACK QUACK!!!!
GOOOOOOOOOOOO DUCKS!
Plus per that ESPN poll, we're the 6th-best franchise on the face of the planet or something.
I would normally question results like that, but this one's so feel-good that I'll just pretent it's irrefutable.
I would love to draw the Ducks in the first round. Those guys have a little payback coming after last year.
Quack quack, indeed.
Go Flames.
Must be nice to be the Detroit Red Wings... their four last games are CBJ, CBJ, CHI, CHI.
Yeah, life's tough for them.
I keep hoping for a Vancouver-Calgary first round match-up. Guess it will have to be a second-round duel now.
All I'm hoping for is for the stars to align for Colorado and fall for Calgary setting up the April 7 game between Edmonton and Calgary to be a season ender should Edmonton beat the Flames.
It would be the only positive way for Edmonton to put a shine on the turd.
Not a likely scenario, but still plausible.
Quack. Quack
Keep it up, boys. It seems to be working. We got a road win tonight in Chicago.
Or as they call it, the "Calgary road win".

Have to? Have to? Can I get a second opinion on this?
Sure. No, don't cheer for the Ducks. The bird in hand (2007 pick) is worth two in the bush (adding in the 2008 pick). The Ducks losing their division and crashing out in the first round are both good things for the pick the Oilers actually have in their possession.
Although Lupul makes a compelling case on his own behalf, I think the conditional 1st rounder is the stupidest part of that deal.
