This is the greatest, most interesting weblog post I've read in months. It's also, as best I can recall, the first time I've ever seen YouTube clips actually employed to assist in telling a tale.
[Postscript: the Carpenters song that the whole deal is about is known to me because of -- and only because of -- Farley & Spade singing it, driving down the highway in Tommy Boy.]
