Oilers Game Day-Red Wings

Record: 7-6-1Record: 9-4-1
Preview

Two teams who have gone in pretty much opposite directions since they last met. The Oilers may not think they need a win, but I certainly need one. The last game I watched that the Oilers won was October 23rd against Phoenix.* Give me 110% out there, boys!

Pleasure Motors has the line of the day over at Covered in Oil. On the Red Wings:

"these aren't your slightly older cousin whom you've always felt obligated to sit beside at Thanksgiving due to the closeness of your ages even though she tapes CSI: New York and dropped out of an Athabasca University correspondence business program to serve bottles of Corona and get groped in the lounge at the Sawmill Pacific Fish Company's Red Wings: these are the Red Wings who haven't lost a game since we beat them in mid-October."

I didn't catch any McCartney/Band on the Run references, which was a tad disappointing, but that was about all that was missing in that fine piece of post.

Our friends at Behind the Jersey, On the Wings and Abel at Kuklas will have the news on Detroit.

And just a reminder to any who wish to play in the Oilogosphere Street Classic this Saturday: if you haven't contacted Pleasure Motors or I yet, please do so.

*I may not watch this game now, because clearly it's my fault that the Oilers are losing.

Because of the MacT Relief undertaking or because of your now-retired Whalers jersey/Nerd cap playoff uniform?

I will not be watching the game as I am getting together with some former co-workers tonight. The last time I was out with the girls and missed the game was Oct. 21 vs. Detroit.

Does karma flow uphill or down?

Because of the MacT Relief undertaking or because of your now-retired Whalers jersey/Nerd cap playoff uniform?

No, because every game I've watched since the first Phoenix game they've lost, and the one I didn't watch (Washington), they won.

Really, I was joking. I just wanted to get ahead of Allan telling me not watch. But if we lose tonight...

I may miss the game on account of homework, but I'm taping it just in case. I'm an optimist.

Well, my parents appear to have inconveniently forgotten about the babysitting gig here and are not at home. Maybe stuck out in the snow like most of Saskatoon right now.

Called my friend and found out that no one seems willing to brave the streets.

Guess I'll be watching TSN after all. Horcoff with the game winner!

Hasek looks dynamite through 20!

Man, Peter's comments about the Vaunt yesterday are looking solid.

zero shots on goal...

This must be a new strategy.

Man, Peter's comments about the Vaunt yesterday are looking solid.

To our credit, none of us disagreed with him.

U-G-L-Y.

People can check out IOF for a full on dork-fest on SC's.

Holy sheep shit. That was a frigging hit.

....whoa

Torres did not see the ice again after that hit.

Yeah, your boy was just talking about that Pierre. They're assuming someone on the Wings would actually retaliate. Not gonna happen.

Oilers outshot 34-16 so far :-0

Poor Roli!

Just got here, but would I be going out on a limb saying that we kinda suck. How many shots did my TV tell me we had on the first five PP's? Zero?

Worst game I've seen in....forever??

Best game I've seen since ... last night.

Another nice Vaunt tonight -- the Oilers' goals per game have dwindled to Flame-ish levels. But then we were never vaunted.

The Oilers going on a long run of ineptitude after a nice start parallels last season -- hopefully the Flamers are about to echo last year with a glorious 9 game winning streak.

Go Flames.

I have to admit, I've always liked Flames fans more when their team is the one that's obviously worse.

Here's to Kipper popping a knee. (I haven't watched any of yours, but I assume he's still the only reason you guys win games.)

How nice: they brought back the Edmonton Roadrunners. Seems they got their laundry mixed up with the parent club, though.

Yeah, I watched the first, then zipped through about 2/3 of the rest of the game. I'm really regretting taping it in the first place. My PVR feels vaguely unclean after that debacle.

You really should have followed your own advice, Andy. Geez.

The powerplay can't score when they know you're watching. They get so worried about impressing you that it gets sloppy.

Your fault Grabia.

I'm definitely not watching the game tomorrow.

Here is an interview on Schremp
