Oilers Game Day - Colorado

Season Record: 30-18-7 Season Record: 29-20-6

Preview

A win tonight puts the Oilers in a three-way tie for first place in the NW (Calgary will have a game in hand). A loss brings Colorado within one point of Edmonton.

The Mayor will get the start in net with either a sick Jussi or a freshly waived Conky backing him up.

Tarnstrom is out with the flu, and Moreau and Peca are both out with injuries. Kyle Brodziak has been called up to play center.

Sacamano's key to the game -- first shift after scoring a goal. The Oil have been terrible this year about giving up goals right after scoring. They did it again last night, and it is going to come back to bite them.

Worrisome Quotes: -- "That is why tonight's division matchup against the Edmonton Oilers at the Pepsi Center had Avalanche players talking Monday as if they were gearing up for Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. The Oilers are only three points ahead of the Avs."

Prediction: 4-3 Oilers (Smyth, Hemsky, Pronger, Laraque)

Comments:

Just a shout out to Colby on his last post at his Maclean's election weblog. Great job, always a good read.

Now he can put more time and effort into more important things, such as a small, regional, sport specific blog with even less readership (maybe) than Maclean's, the BoA.

Yeah, Colby wrote a pretty good blog, I read it a bunch and enjoyed it a lot.

And turning to hockey, I think Oilers and Flames fans can agree on this much: no overtime/shootout tonight please.

The kudos for Cosh are well-deserved. Although I was taken aback at his stunning admission of "a friend from Calgary"... sounds like a smart friend, though.

can anyone help me out on how I can read said excellent blog by said Mr. Cosh?

cheers.

mud

Bingo on the Barlow bit. Laughed my ass off when Colby posted those.

That was a hell of a frustrating game to watch.

I hate it when Mac-T puts out any line containing Laraque immediately after a goal.

Good call on the Key to the Game. What was that, 20 seconds between the Oilers' 2nd goal and the Avs' 4th?
