Oilers vs Detroit - I'm back baby!

Preview

Well folks, after 14 and one half years of university skoolin', I believe I may have just handed in my final assignment. Sure I still have one more oral exam to go, but who ever flunks those things (knock loudly on wood).

Speaking of not flunking tests, how about those Oilers vs Colorado. I didn't see or listen to the game, but I did see the highlight of Hemsky's dipsy-doodle around Bergeron. Sa-weet! That really turned the corner from an unsuccesful road trip to a decent one - but oh what could have been if they hadn't sleepwalked through a couple of games vs Chicago and Nashville.

Another big test goes down tonight with the Red Wings in town. They're likely going to be a bit choked after losing to the Flames last night. Who knows, maybe I'll even watch this one.

Comments:

I was just clicking around, and I had forgotten just how awful the Red Wings were for a long, long time.

From 1966 to 1983, a span of 17 seasons, they made the playoffs twice.

I guess that's why Reed Larson and Willie Huber's numbers aren't hanging from the Joe Louis rafters.

Don't skip that half year, it was the worst of all of them.

Sadly, I can't say that I'm certified to do anything whatsoever.

If you're looking for a way to apply your edumacation for fun and profit, I suggest writing thrillers and solving crimes, like this lady.

I've already got the movie script roughed out.

It will push The Rock into superstardom.

Is there ever!

Let me just say that if you are thinking of bailing after 10 years, don't. The secret party they throw you makes the McGill football team initiation look like a preschool birthday bash.

Yeah Gramps, that's always the silver lining.

I went to Yankee Stadium in Sept.93, when they were decent for the first time in years but still a few games out. Overheard a long conversation outside the gates involving a guy who was super-choked that he was no longer able to buy his usual seat on a game-by-game basis.

6-5 against the wings, sweet. Looked kind of shaky there for the last couple minutes of the game. But man, Jarret Stoll on the point for the powerplay has a blast that's McInnisesque. Kind of sad though that we can't even go into a defensive shell for 5 minutes though. None the less, big come back and a win.

Grampa Pinhead sure called it. Got any stock tips for us, GP? Lotto numbers?

Leave it to Maltby to make the silk purse of good late Wings pressure into the sow's ear of a 4 on 3 Edmonton power play.

Chris, I assume that's a spelling mistake, and you're not referring to Marty.

Also, Peca is the worst offensive player on the Oilers, and that includes Rookie Smith and Captain Chiclets. It's just incredible how stiff that guy looks out there.

On the positive side: it looks like Smyth is better than he's ever been. He might be a Top 10 NHL sniper right now.

Conclusive proof at last that reading ColbyCosh.com makes one dumber! (It seems that if you flee from university early enough, as I did, they'll actually let you help write our estimable national newspapers...)
