My Déjà Vu, My Déjà Vu
Comments:
I don't know Andy, sometimes your starting pitcher has shit. And then you roll out Andy McGaffigan and hope the town team can hit a big fly and if it doesn't work you call in Randy St. Claire to mop up and go get them next time.
The Oilers need a defenseman, that I believe to be an absolute truth. But this game?
It was an L early.
And the bald jackass on Sportsnet (Brophy? is that him?) is dumber than lint.

How can I ever top that? Seriously.
lowetide: Yes, Brophy is dumb. Very dumb. If Ales Hemsky is in the Rick Middleton family, Mike Brophy is in the Al Strachan family.
About everything that could have gone wrong for the Oilers tonight did. Cest la vie. Beat Columbus on Saturday and they end up with 11 out of 14 points from a seven-game homestand. That's pretty damn good if you ask me.
Roloson had a rough night, but it's a lot better to have a goalie having one absolute stinker a month than what the deal was for the first 60 games or so last year (EACH goalie giving up one bad goal per start).
Good on Jason Smith to go +2 tonight...helps make up for some of the attrocious circumstances that have lead to his commanding lead for the 2006/07 Oilers "Green Jacket". Tiger Woods would be proud...
Each goalie giving up one bad goal per start? As I remember it, it was more like each goalie playing one period of each game and giving up a bad goal apiece.
I was shocked none of the local papers called for a trade for a defenceman this morning. I thought it was coming for sure. And it was interesting that though the stories focused alot on Roli, and the team not helping him out, there wasn't a single quote from him in any of them. He obviously wasn't talking las night.
Bizarro Oilers showed up again last night after the first period and they won by having the most goals scored against them. The only cure will be to get Coach to say, "hsivatcam!"

Especially in a 7 goal game but it sure does bolster the evidence of a pressing problem that ails the Oil.
I think Roli should've been pulled after the 4-2 goal. I counted six Oilers who fucked that one up, and it just doesn't get any worse than that. Mercy pull gives Juicy a chance to salvage the evening while there's still about 44 minutes left.

Agreed, especially since it seemed liked Colorado could collapse at any second. That was just a strange game.
I'm all about picking up at least one more D and possible two with one being a rental for this year and the other being good, young and afforadble and becoming part of the corps.
That being said Roli was absolute shit last night. Three of the goals were the heights of garbage and another one came after he let out a terrible rebound. One thing I've noticed about him is when he's on he's just about as good as as anyone but when he goes cold he goes witches titty cold. The last time he fell off he was shit in Ana, shit in relief in Phx..boucned back to SO the Caps and then was junk vs the Preds and then was just a little bit off in the McGeough Game vs the Stars.
It'll be interesting to see just how long this Roli lull lasts but no one was helping anyone last night. Guys like Lilles were walking in and hammering shots so the boys didn't help Roli there but shots weren't being sniped either and Roli wasn't helping anyone out by the way he reacted to them.
No accountnig for luck though either as the puck bounced on shovel attempts by all of pisani, thoresen and lupul.
Of course there can be accounting for stuff like smid and greene looking like their age in regards to GP and people like Lupul being responsible for covering the right point but somehow being over in the left corner:D
