Flames Game Weekend: Ontario-style
The Flames are in Ottawa tonight (530PM, PPV) and Toronto Saturday (500PM, HNIC). A couple of wins -- or even a solid losing performance v. the Sens, followed by a beatdown of the Leafs -- would constitute "back on track".
I'm leaving town until Sunday, at which point I won't be going anywhere for about 10 weeks. During that period, I will be reclaiming supremacy of this site for the Flames and their presently outnumbered fan-readers. Bank it.
3-2 (OT) over Ottawa, 5-3 over Toronto with McLennan in net. Go Flames.
Comments:
Hey Matt! You're back. good thing too, the number of Oiler v. Flames posts here was starting to be proportional to the number of Cups won.
Anyway, glad you're alive. and remember. The Flames, according to most experts, still suck.
I would go the other way. I think the Flames will eke out a shootout win in Ottawa and then lose on HNIC to the resurgent Leafs 4-1.
And hurry back, those poor Flames fans are getting buried by the Oilers' fans. They can probably only handle so many 'Lames', 'Shames' references and someone needs to defend Dion.
I suggest you do a game-by-game summary of the 88-89 season. Since the Flames look like a shipwreck this season it'll give you time to remember the good old day.
"God, Saturday is like the worst night of the year. You can cheer for the ACC to burn to the ground and the game to be declared a loss for both teams but it's unlikely to happen."
Come on now.
Edmonton > Alberta > Toronto
I don't think the Flames will score 5 goals in a game all season. Let's see at the end of the season if I'm right.

Oouuuu, that's a bold prediction. How about we start with 4, or even 3 goals. At least the Flames can theoretically acheive those numbers.
Déjà vu.
Iginla scores the winning goal, Kipper stood on his head for the shutout, and Dion rocked an opposing player in the open ice. Oh yeah, and only one goal scored the entire game.
But a win is a win.
jhuck
1-0 over the Senators, I'll take it...
Although I would really like to see some offence out of the boys just to put those Oil fans in their place...
I was supposed to go to the game on Saturday night, but now I'm going to Oktoberfest instead. No need to spend $300 to watch my boys slaughter the Leafs (by slaughter I mean score more than 2 goals), when I can get wasted with a bunch of my friends in a public place listening to polka music...
Nice to hear that you are going to be around more now Matt, we need a voice...
- Randy
Yeah Flames!!
I wonder if we can achieve a winning record this year while scoring only 82 goals.
I actually think we might be able to do that.
