Flames Game Day

Ahhh, Firefox just crashed and lost my post about things like how David Poile is a tool, and now I'm out of time. Flames beat Nashville tonight 3-2 in their first ever home shootout win.

And speaking of shootouts, all the best to the street hockey players today in Edmonton. Grabia is calling his shot as a D-Vo Special, which I believe means predicting a hat-trick and then not scoring at all. Have fun everybody. And, Go Flames.

Comments:

which I believe means predicting a hat-trick and then not scoring at all.

Glad someone got it.

It snowed a good bit last night, but we push on.

Nashville seemed to have the Flames number all last year. Hopefully the boys can turn that around tonight...

Have fun street hockey shooters ... I'll be there when the Calgary street match is on. Go Flames.

For all of those dorks that want more Flames coverage on this blog, it's funny that they only seem to show up in the comments section of posts about Oilers games once Edmonton loses.

Even they seem to find the Oilers to be the more interesting team...

Where did all the Flames fans go?

Jesus, Fenwick, what the hell is the matter with your Flames? I mean, really, what the hell is going on?

Ugh. So far, the Flames have been one of those 'slow starting' teams. They don't seem to get engaged in the game until sometime in the second period, and then they usually look pretty good. Of course, by then they are usually a goal or two behind. Even in the Phoenix game the boys looked prett sluggish through much of the first period. They got a goal on a 5 on 3 and then they seemed to be interested.

I don't know if that's coaching or not, but this team does not seem to come and play in the early going.

Last year they salvaged a bad start to the season by going something stupid like 10-1-1 in November. You can't count on a run like that every winter.

And this blog is more fun when the Oilers lose and the Flames are winning. So, it has not been so much fun the last 6 months or so.

You know what else is funny? Hardly any of the Oiler fans that frequent this blog actually live in Edmonton. You're like the Pittsburgh of Canada. I mean, it must be incredibly depressing for Edmontonians to know that people would rather live in Toronto than Northern Alberta. Fucking Toronto! Isn't that some form of treason, moving from Alberta to Ontario? Yet it appears that a good chunk of the Oilers fans here have done just that.

So you brag about your cups, your mall, and......Whyte Ave (I don't know what Edmontonians are supposed to brag about), but at least Calgarians haven't created a fucking sub-community in goddamn Toronto with their diaspora.

Or perhaps, just maybe, the Oilers are a team that inspire fandom from across the nation, from sea to shinning sea, so yeah, they have a more geographically diverse fanbase.

Winning will do that to ya.

Besides, some people are just smart enough not to cheer for the Leafs.

You're right, that IS funny.

Seriously, the Flames need to stop sucking, and fast.

Startlingly similar to October last year Sacamano - The Flames just aren't "in sync". Eveyone seems a step behind - confused, hesistant, unsure of themselves. I was hoping the win over the Coyotes would cure some of these mental issues, but clearly it hasn't...

It also doesn't help that the coaching staff still refues to let some of the young horses run. Kobasew got something like 9 minutes worth of ice. Amonte got 18. Ridiculous.
