Flames Game Night
The Flames are in St. Louis tonight to take on the Blues (6PM MT, RSN West). They're aiming for their first road winning streak of the season! They won "consecutive" road games once in November, but there was 2 home games wedged in the middle.
Fun Blues fact: they've scored 42 PP goals on the season, which is 2nd worst in the league. That's bad enough, but 19 of those were traded away at the deadline (Tkachuk 8, Guerin 7, Wideman 4).
Fun Blues fact #2: in the ~month before the deadline, they won three games by a 1-0 score where Bill Guerin had the game's only goal.
Scary Blues fact: they still have Lee Stempniak, that bugger. Actually, the Flames have had quite a bit of success against the Blues since the lockout, unlike certain NW Division teams, but the one they did lose last year was in the shootout to the Mighty Stempniak, and that was shortly after they had traded Weight and Sillinger away.
The good news is, I have Curtis Sanford in my hockey pool, so I'm sure he'll get torched tonight. Calgary 6 (Iginla x3, Stuart, Lombardi, Phaneuf) St. Louis 1 (Dvorak). Go Flames.

Comments:
I love the Stempniaked poster. It just needs to be changed to say "unexpectedly."
I should also add that I saw someone sign in as "anonymouse" on Kuklas today. It made me smile. It's really quite amazing what this site has accomplished.
Flames 5 (Iginla, Stuart, Phaneuf, Yelle, Huselius (en)) - Blues 2 (Stempniak, Boyes)
Btw, am I the only one hoping Huselius slows down the damn scoring a bit so we can afford to re-sign him?

Yes, but point taken.
Loubardias and Ryan Walter? I don't think you could ask for a more painful combination to call this game.
Forget Walter and Loubardias.
The Flames played the exact same way in both periods. Blues score on their only two chances in the first, Flames manage a power play goal in the second. Paraphrased analysis by Brophy:
First: Flames fans have to be upset that their team came out so flat.
Second: Wow, what a period by the Flames.
So, get scored on and you played horrible, score and you played great, no matter what? I don't think he watches the game. Seriously.
Alright, where can I find a running weblog of what's going on in the game tonight...
I know the seond period is over and the flames are down 2-1, but I wouldn't mind a little help with the third, as I don't get Sportsnet West here in Ontario...
And I'd like a little more than jusst the Sportsline GameCenter for updates...
Maybe something with a little emotion...
Go Flames!
Lombardi hasn't played since he took his holding call late in the first, while Tony-I-Can't-Score gets shift after shift despite after his stupid hooking penalty. Bananas.
ryan walter really wanted to say that primeau's move on the goal was "by accident on purpose" but thought that he should limit his use of the phrase to only twice a period.
Sportsnet boys just figured out Lombardi hasn't played "in a while." Wouldn't want to check the stats during the intermission or anything. And thanks for wondering what's up rather than checking on it. You're only there, and it's only your job.
Alright, thanks for the updates Duncan, but I have to leave for my own game now...
I feel confident enough that even the road Flames can hold a 4-2 lead with less than 3 minutes left...
Randy,
You should do what I usually do and grab the radio feed from Fan960 on their website or NHL.com...
woo hoo! Another big Flames road win. As crummy as our road record is, we've only gained 2 fewer points than the Oilers away from home.
And was tonight another first for the blog? Was this the first game night prediction that correctly predicted a goal by Dvorak?
Is there a typo on the CNNSI game sheet for the Canucks? Halfway through the game shots are 4-2 Vancouver?!! Wild lost though: good.
Actually Peter, that's the 2nd time that I've correctly predicted a D-Vo goal. Sacamano, I believe, is still 0-fer...
Shoot-out win and come from behind road win in the last 3 games.
I don't know what's going on, but I like it.
Go Tampa (for now)!
Great game by the Flames. They were the better team from start to finish. Beating Nashville on Thursday would be a HUGE step towards the confidence for a long playoff run.
Too bad for the Oil -- it does not look like Tampa broke a sweat tonight. They should be pretty fresh for tomorrow night's game.
Go Flames.
Thanks for nothing, Tampa.
Two goals from Jeff Cowan? Seriously?
Jeff Cowan's been on a tear lately. Someone through a bra onto the ice after his second goal, amidst chants of "Cowan! Cowan! Cowan!"
Classy!

You cut me Matt. You cut me deep.
