"You know, I've weighed all my options and all their potential consequences, and I'm going with the Mexican vampire accent. This is the vision I will embrace. But only on that one line! The rest of it will just be sung like a non-dead human."
I'm going to say it: I never really saw the appeal of Chuck Klosterman.
Yes, he's Different From The Other Guys Out There. But he's also insufferable and dull and I suspect that if I met him we'd end up getting in a fight involving broken beer bottles.
i saw klosterman interview stephen king a few years ago on stage in toronto, for some gala event where king was given a lifetime achievement award by the canadian booksellers association. klosterman was insightful, amusing, and kinda funny looking. it was awesome.
other than that, i seriously reflect on the chapter in "killing yourself to live" where he calls KidA the soundtrack to 9-11 (and brings up some pretty seriously interesting points)....
Incidentally, "Chinese Democracy" will also be the title of Andy's next hockey post.
Lol. In my defence, I do have a hockey post right under this one. Just not a very long, or good one. But 15 years from now, when I put out my baby...no one will care.
I've never heard the line he's referring to in the song...

ReplyDeletei see the appeal and reject it emphatically.
Andrew Potter takes an opposite stance:

...C. Klosterman deserves--and I mean this is the grandest cosmic sense possible--that comment thread on AVC. I weep for my unborn children.

ReplyDeleteIf there is ever another hockey post?!
