Flames Snow Day

The Flames will not, in fact, be playing the Avs in Denver tonight, as there has been a big-ass blizzard. Or as the Denver Post puts it: "State of emergency: Colorado paralyzed, hundreds stranded".

I was just flipping through the schedule, trying to guess when the game might be rescheduled, and it'll be tough. My best guess is that they play it on the last day of the season (Sun. Apr. 8th), though it looks like maybe April 1st or 2nd would be possible. At any rate, there's no chance that it will be played before March; every date before then that's open for both teams (and not filled by the NBA's Nuggets) would result in one of them playing either games on 3 consecutive nights or 4 games in 5 nights, and that's not done.

Like Peter, I'll probably put the Oilers game on instead. It's win-win: if the Oil stinks again, yay; if they win and look good, I can do my Kent Brockman impersonation.
[shakes fist at heaven] Damn you snow!

Comments:

I put some pictures up of what it looked like last night up. But I'd have gone to the game. Of course, I live near the Soda Center, but still, I'd have gone.

You've sure been saying "like Peter" a lot lately. I think we might have to take his knees out or something. He's getting too close.

Did you look at those pics on Tapeleg's site? That looks like a November Tuesday in Edmonton. I would have thought, in Colorado of all places, people could deal with the snow. Wimps.

In the 1999-2000 season, we had a snowstorm like that one. Raleigh got 24+ inches of snow overnight, forcing the postponement of the Canes-Coyotes game. They were able to make that game up two days, as Carolina had a few days off scheduled and the 'Yotes were doing their Southeast Division swing anyway. They had to reschedule their game with Atlanta, playing it at the end of the season.

It was memorable because Raleigh NEVER gets that amount of snow in an entire winter, let alone one night. Also, because Jeremy Roenick was pissed off that the game had to be rescheduled and had some not-so-kind words to say about North Carolina.

There's only three or four Flames fans capable of turning on a computer, so who is else is Matt going to reference?

I knew the hockey gods hated the Flames but I didn't think it would go this far. Now those poor Denver residents are caught in the crossfire.

damn you, snow!

and guys with easy to pick on names like 'colby' and 'cosh' probably should save their stones, rather than throw them at my glass house.

you oilers get first place only because the coloradians (?) can't handle a little snow. no way we call that game in Alberta.

You forgot about all the ice--which is what shut everything down more than the snow. I had so much fun digging my car out to venture forth in an attempt to find an open store, only to wind up sliding all over half of North Raleigh because a lovely three-inch thick layer of ice was hiding under all the snow.

Blegh.

I believe Neil Smith first coined this phrase, no?
